How it works
Clear answers to common questions about working with House of Islas.
What if I don’t know which package I need?
That’s completely normal – most moms don’t! I’ll learn more about your spaces, what feels hardest right now, and what you want from your home. From there, I can recommend the package that offers the most impact without wasting your time or money.
I have kids/pets at home. Do I need to prepare or clean before you come?
Absolutely not. I expect real-life mess. There’s no need to prep, tidy, or hide anything. Seeing how your home functions day to day helps me create systems that actually work for your family.
Should I be there while you organize?
That’s completely up to you. Some clients stay involved, while others use the time to run errands, work, or rest. I’ll only need your input for decisions about what to keep, donate, or let go of.
What if my home is very cluttered or I’m embarrassed?
You don’t need to be. I work with people in all stages of overwhelm, and your home is a judgment-free space. My goal is to lighten your load – not add to it.
Will I need to buy organizing products?
Not necessarily. I always start with what you already have. If additional items are needed, I provide a favorite products guide with the Start Here Reset and Breathing Room Reset. With Fresh Start Reset, I assist with product shopping so it can fit your space (and budget) perfectly.
Do you remove donations?
Yes! With Fresh Start Reset, donations are removed each session. With Breathing Room Reset, one carload of donations is removed. If you choose Start Here Reset, I provide a local donation guide so drop-off is easy when it fits your schedule.
Can I add more hours if we don’t finish?
Yes! All packages offer hourly add-on time until the project is complete. This allows flexibility without committing to another full package.
How long does a typical session last?
Most projects follow this general timeline:
Start Here Reset: Completed in one visit
Breathing Room Reset: Completed in two visits on two separate days
Fresh Start Reset: Completed in three visits on three separate days
I schedule sessions with your family’s needs and availability in mind.
Do you travel outside of Las Cruces?
Yes! I proudly serve clients throughout Las Cruces, NM; El Paso, TX, and many surrounding communities. If you’re unsure whether you’re within my service area, just ask!
The first 15 miles each way from House of Islas’ primary business location are included at no additional charge. For travel beyond the included mileage, travel-time and mileage charges apply to account for the additional time and vehicle-related costs associated with business travel.
Travel-time fees are calculated using the total round-trip mileage beyond the included 15 miles each way.
Travel-time fee:
1–30 billable round-trip miles: $20
31–50 billable round-trip miles: $40
51–80 billable round-trip miles: $60
81–120 billable round-trip miles: $75
121+ billable round-trip miles: Custom quote
Mileage beyond the included 15 miles each way is billed separately at the current federal standard mileage rate.
Travel-time and mileage charges are calculated per service day.
Travel fees are always communicated before your appointment.
Do you offer weekend appointments?
Yes! Weekend appointments are available based on availability. Because Saturdays and Sundays fall outside my regular business hours and weekend availability is limited, a $50 weekend scheduling fee applies per appointment.
This fee will be added to your invoice and is separate from any applicable travel or mileage charges.
How does payment work?
A $100 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your appointment.
The remaining balance is due on the day of your first organizing session unless we’ve agreed to a payment plan in advance.
